The conference took place at Island School, Hong Kong, on Friday, April 23rd 2010. Teachers from 8 secondary and priamary schools in Hong Kong, plus a brief appearance from a teacher from Prague.
The theme was to look at student-centred teaching methodology as advocated by IEA. Those attending the conference were able to watch some year 10 lessons in action and were able to talk to year 11 students who had just completed the course.
Students spoke about their experiences during the course, the projects they had undertaken and evaluated the benefits and difficulties of the course and teaching methods. Some students gave impromptu presentations of their projects and spoke eloquently to demonstrate the extent of their learning.
All those who attended were impressed by the students and could see how they had benefitted from the openness and flexibility of the course.
